My Slave Diary Entry 4

Dear Diary,
auction
auction

It was a long trip, from Africa all the way to America. It was very smelly, sweat and urgh…it just stinks! Lots of us died on the way. Most of us got punished when we talk or sing! We love singing when we worked, but the White people wouldn’t allow. :@.After that long trip, we have arrived America. What a big country it is. I always want to travel America, a great thing to experience. But, here I am a slave. Those white people brought us to a room where we’re going to be coated with oil, to make us look shiny and healthy, so that the White people won’t see any scars or white patches. It hurts a lot. Then, we were thrown into a big cage and I realised it was in an auction. It was full of White and White people! They were going to sell us! I don’t want to leave my friends. :( That’s not fair! After a while, I was sold to a woman. So, I was in a carriage, but it was not sitting in a carriage. It was standing in the back of the carriage. The White people were being mean to us! I wished I could run away, but I can't. As being slaves, we have a law. This law is very serious one. It includes the rule when we're trying to run away, we will be branded with a iron. I wish my owners are nice to me. I'm going to have a busy day tomorrow, from early morning to take care of the cotton field and worked as a maid in the afternoon. So, I better get some sleep.

My Slave Diary Entry 3

in the boat-the white people are being mean to us

Dear Diary,
I was right. My sister and I were separated. I was chained up, from head to toe. I was with some of friends, but most of them were males. It was smelly, and disgusting (urgh!). After a while, I was unchained, but my friends and I have to break our thumbs. I was really scared but that’s was they wanted to do. We screamed but failed again. Luckily, I don’t have to break my thumbs, but going to send the captain. I am going to be sent to the captain after dinner. Meanwhile, the males have to exercise, but the workers on the ship threw water at them. They threw water at the scars. It hurts because they’ve been hit a lot.  Some of them cried and some screamed.

Below the deck, the stench is making me sick that I wanted to die. Some of them died and they were thrown into the sea full with sharks. At dinner, it was terrible. The food was just white stickiness, look like sticky rice. It tastes terrible. After dinner, that stupid first mate just unchained me and pulled me to the Captain’s room. The Captain was furious that the first mate brought me here. After that, he left the room so in the room only the Captain and me. He asked me questions but I am not dared to answer them. He seemed to look nice, unlike the First Mate. I was scared that I couldn’t even speak. After that, the Captain called the first mate to bring me back to the deck.Urgh…Everything in the boat is terrible!! :@

My Slave Diary Entry 2

Dear Diary,
Today was creepy. My sister and I left to mind the house. Suddenly, two men and a woman came up from nowhere, trying to capture us. We ran and ran, even though we were so tired. We ran until we came into a land where nobody was there, but surrounded by those people that were chasing us.

We tried to scream for help, but we failed. Those people whipped us and we both felt back. Quickly, they stuffed both of us into a sack each. We were far away apart and I bet that our parents are going to so worried that we’re missing. I was really scared. I have no way but following the road that I am going-to be captured.

My Slave Diary Entry 1

peaceful life in Africa

Dear Diary,

Today was great! Life is peaceful and just…great! Even though our family is poor, we still in a community and help each other. My daily life was just taking care of the animals, especially the goats. That’s how we get our food from-hunting, fishing. We can’t plant vegetables and fruits because of the weather. The weather in Ghana is in December to February is the dry season. The temperature is day temperature is 27-36oC and in night temperature is 18-26oC. The hottest dry season is in July and August. The rainy season is from April to June, which shows that this weather is not good for planting plants. We don’t wear clothes like in other countries. We just wear a long piece of calico, wrapped around our body.

I am really happy that I got a life being simple, even though we are poor.

Today, my parents sent my sister and me to a teacher that I have to dance for the boys who are becoming men. I think that I have to propose for them for marriage. Oh well, I have not idea but it’s fun.

After practising our dance moves, we went to a land and perform in front the men. After that, my parents show my sister and me to a house that they created for us. I was really happy.
