Can we change the world? ELP

The quote" "A waterfall starts by with one drop, and look what becomes of that"

What do you think the quote means?
I think it means that a waterfall is full of water. One drop of water starts first, and then slowly more water droplets will combine into a waterfall.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Why?
I agree with the statement because it relates to us. One person says something, and others try to build it up.

How does this link with the topic "A Fair World"?
This links to the topic because for the MDGs, one person said about it and he/she needs lots of people to achieve it.

Assignment:
Part A
1. St Lucia is located between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean
2. I need to include these statistics:
-GDP-To see how much did the country earn.
-Population-To know how many people lives in the country
-Birth Rate & Death Rate-To know how does country's basic needs (eg. food) affect people
-Life Expectancy-Same reason as "Birth Rate & Death Rate"
-Area of the Land-To know how big is the country and to compare with the population, like how many people in each area.
-Sanitation Facility Access- To see whether does it affect people and the land.
Factfile
GDP-$1.3 billion (2011 est.)
Population-162,178 (July 2012 est.)
Birth Rate-14.42 births/1,000 population (2012 est.)
Death Rate-7.1 deaths/1,000 population (July 2012 est.)
Life Expectancy-77.04 years
Area of Land-616 sq km
Sanitation Facility Access-
improved:
urban: 89% of population
rural: 89% of population
total: 89% of population

Reflection about Development Gap

This week, I learned about the Development Gap and why some countries are poor and others are rich. I learned that it's depends on these subtopics: Historical, Geographical, Social and Political. The hardest part of this learning is actually planning this assignment and achieve it and the easiest is working as a group. I'm learning this because I was wondering why some countries are rich and poor. I know that I'm getting facts right by checking the resources.

Meauring Development Questions

Diamond Development

<----My group's diamond development (top is the most important, bottom is the least important)

3. a. We think that % Population with access to clean water is the most important, because if there's dirty water everywhere, a disease will be spread and

b. Which indicator do you think is the least important, why?
We think % people employed in agriculture is the least important because if we don't know the % population living in urban, there's no point people are employed in agriculture and if we don't know number of people per doctor, maybe the employers might get sick and there's not enough doctor.

c. Explain the positions of the middle indicators
The middle indicators are Gross National Product, Population Density, Population Growth. The reasons we put these indicators in the middle because we think that if we don't calculate the infant mortality rate, it might affect the population density and population growth rates. The Gross National Product's in the middle because if we don't calculate the literacy rates, people might not know what's the products uses.

d. Is there another indicator you think would fit? Why? No.

e.Was it easy to make the decisions as a group? Why or why not
No it wasn't easy because we have quite a lot of arguments about where goes where and when a group comment about our diamond, they said the statements that we didn't think about it.
